Explore CDMX

There's plenty to see, eat, drink in Mexico City. Below are just some suggestions and you can View Map to see more. You can also reach out to the Sofitel Hotel Concierge for information and assistance on tours. Note that many attractions, restaurants, and even bars may require reservations.

You can also walk and explore the neighborhoods of Roma, Condesa (our favorite!), or Palanco. Each neighborhood has its own unique vibe and you will certainly find lots to see, eat, and drink. We recommend you take an Uber late at night instead of walking.

To See (Para Ver)

Frida Kahlo Museum (Casa Azul or Blue House) is a historic house and art museum. Frida Kahlo was born, lived with Diego Rivera, and died in this house. It is filled with art work, personal items, and so much history. A definite must see! Make sure to get tickets beforehand. We also recommend walking through the Mercado de Coyoacan and seeing the various local goods and foods for sale.

Bosque de Chapultepec - Dating back to ancient Aztec times, when the park served as a royal retreat, the trees of the Chapultepec forest are often referred to as the city’s lungs. Check out the Chapultepec Castle (was once home to Mexican heads of states), or The Anthropology Museum located on the north end.

Soumaya Museum – over 66,000 works from 30 centuries of art, beginning your tour on the sixth floor and descent comfortably by the ramp.

Angel de Independencia (Angel of Independence) -A symbol of celebration & protest, it commemorates the centennial of the beginning of Mexico's War of Independence. It's actually right outside the Sofitel Hotel.

The Palacio de Correos de México – A century-old post office that's absolutely stunning in architecture.

Zócalo –  Once the centre of Aztec society, now the historic heart of Mexico City that is home to the city's Cathedral, Presidential Palace, Supreme Court, and the beautiful Palacio de Bellas Artes. There's plenty to see, eat, and drink around. You can also expect the Plaza lit up with Christmas decor.

Xochimilco  - (pronounced Zo-shee-mil-ko)  the last remnants of a vast water transport system built by the Aztecs.  Known as the "Floating Gardens", you can  take a ride on brightly colored gondolas, or Xochimilco Trajineras. Recommend you book your tickets in advance & make sure you have cash. It's about 45 minutes from the Sofitel Hotel

Teotihuacan - A UNESCO World Heritage site that is one of the most influential ancient cities. Known as the "City of the Gods",  it was once one of the largest cities in Mesoamerica. While it is only 1 hour from the Sofitel Hotel, we recommend making this a day trip to see magnificent pyramids, archictecture, and art.

Club Tengo Hambre - Do a food tour in one of Mexico City's neighborhoods with Club Tengo Hambre. Explore, try different places. They'll plan it for you.
